STEPHEN DIETEMANN

Stephen Gerard Dietemann was born in Paris, France in 1953. He has lived the majority of his life in the United States, with short stays in Brazil, Germany and France. He attended Cornell University College of Architecture, Art and Planning, graduating in 1976. After obtaining his architectural license he returned to The School of Visual Arts in New York City to study painting, drawing and sculpture. After leaving SVA he focused on combining art and architecture in an effort to enhance both art forms, blending discipline and playfulness, color, materials, mass, setting, form and space. He believes that the creation of art and architecture are not separate pursuits, but rather can be viewed simply as the two sides of the same coin.

Mr. Dietemann’s art has been shown in numerous galleries in New York and throughout the United States, as well as Europe and South America. His work is included in several public collections, including The Yale Museum of Art in the United States and collections in Germany.

His artwork has been reviewed in publications including Art in America, the Chicago Tribune, Berkshire Living Magazine, The Berkshire Edge and the Albany Times Union.

He currently lives and works in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
