Mik Cooper
Mik Cooper’s collage journey began 15 years ago, inspired by the urban surfaces of New York, where she grew up. Her early works mimicked the city’s public walls and advertisements.
After earning a BA in Visual Arts from Bowdoin College, Mik’s collages evolved, blending her photography training with her untrained painting techniques. Now, she uses collage to create surreal compositions, handcrafting pieces from vintage magazines and newspapers.
Her work progresses through cycles of collage, scanning, and re-collaging, resulting in large format final pieces, presented as singular collages or editioned prints.
Mik’s mixed media art is in commercial and private collections, including over 30 commissioned works for Blackberry Mountain in Tennessee. Collectors of her work include Grammy-winning musicians, Hollywood screenwriters, and board members of The Met, MoMA, and LACMA.
Her work has been evolving since 2009.
